Sharing my Holiday craftyful gifts: Episode 1

I didn't share any kind of sneak peaks on what I was crafting for Christmas... not that very many of my friends and family ever actually read my blog (except 1)

So the point is that I didn't share any of it!

So I'm going to start to share them a little at a time while I gather the photo's because of course I was so caught up in the crafting that I FORGOT to take pictures of everything!

Here is one of the craftyful Christmas presents someone received! I'm a little sad that I didn't have time to compile some tutorials while I was making these things. Lets face it... until I'm a stay-at-home housewife I won't be doing many tutorials! Especially when I'm trying to get as many classes completed as I can before next year!

Reconstructed bangle bracelet

Took an old pink bangle someone gave me to use for crafting and turned it into fabulousness for my best friend Nayra.

How I did it:
All I did was wrap and glue black craft ribbon around the bracelet
Used this zipper flower tutorial from Craftaholics Anonymous for the zipper flowers and layered them on with some glue. I also added some green gem stones on each flower (not shown)

Crochet needle organizing pouch

I made this one for my coworker Liz
She loves to crochet!
She LOVED it and I'm so glad!

Alright so while I was producing this blog post I decided that I NEED to do some tutorials
I will hopefully get Fiancee's assitance with photo taking
I will Deliver!!
Stay tuned!

New Fabric Stash Shelf

I had been searching long and hard for a tall slender shelf to store my lovely fabric stash... I thought my search would never end... until...

A goddess from craigslist posted the offer I had been waiting for!

I scored a brand new Ikea bookshelf for half of retail price! Apparently she bought it, put it together and realized it was the wrong size. Since she couldn't return it because she already put it together AND got a little chip in it... she offered it for $30 on craigslist! THIRTY DOLLARS! SCORE!

I wanted it sooo bad that I woke up at 7:00 am just to go and pick it up before she left for work.

I used to store my fabric stash in plastic bins on the side of my sewing table... I kept forgetting what I had available to use so I didn't use it. It was also looking a little cluttered and I need as much organization as possible in this time of my life. (school, work, wedding planning)

So here it is...

Thank you Godess from craigslist!

On the right above are a few poofs I'm using for a valentine's project
To the right are a couple cute little poof hairclips

These lovely flowers are a bonus!
Work in progress... haven't decided on a headband, hairclip, or broach!

Thanks for reading!

I'm crafting it forward in 2011

I saw this posted on facebook this weekend and thought that this was super cool! I follow pay it forward with life in general, when I can remember, but I like the idea of crafting it forward! Its super cool! (Can you tell I love the word super?)

 (craft) Pay it Forward 2011

I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave me a comment. They must in turn post this and send something they made (make) to the first 5 people who comment on their status. It must be handmade by you and must be sent sometime (anytime) in 2011. A great way to start 2011! (I'm planning on sending mine within the next couple months)

This is open to all of my readers. Regardless of where you are located.

I won't be taking specific requests because I'm still learning and don't want to commit to try and make something that I cannot. Here's some stuff that I make: fabric flower broaches, headbands, hair clips, recycled jersey necklaces, zipper make-up bags, and recycled jersey fringe scarves. Take a look at some of my posts for some examples.

In your comment be sure to include the following:

- A link to your post with the same pay it forward or a link to your site so I can see that you're paying it forward
- Your email address or blog URL so that I have a way of contacting you for your mailing address.

My recipients

2. Jennifer of A Beautiful life
3. Anonymous Val Contreras

What I wore... to bring in the New Year

I knew that I wanted to do something with this old lady dress I found at my favorite dollar spot...
but I didn't think I would actually follow through on it!

but I did!

I sometimes forget that I have a blog and don't take BEFORE pictures
*Tac that onto my new years resolution list*
I really need to start doing that!
Anyway the dress used to look kinda similar to the dresses below
It was long sleeved with shoulder pads and a big flap in the front

                              Source                                                         Source                                                                               Source

All I did was cut the flap off, cut the sleeves off and cut the neck to my liking.

I re-sewed the seems and took the dress in about 2 inches or more so it would be fitted.

I also took some the scrap fabric and made some cute little flowers to place on my one sleeve.
Kinda gave it a bit of a cha-cha look

Here is the fabulous result!

And these one's are just for fun!

I'll try and put together a tutorial using another old lady dress!

Stay tuned for my homemade holiday gifts post!

Frustration... can't comment!

I'm getting frustrated that I can't comment on anyone's darn blogs from a certain place... this current place

I can from home
I can on my boyfriends laptop
But not here!
Lets just say corporate disabling!

I'm missing out on wishing people congratulations
Giving people kudos
Commenting on super awesome tutorials
or letting a blogger know that they are just absolutely fabulous!

I wish I had a laptop so I can spend more time on blog world outside of the corporate disablingness! (disablingness is not a word but since I'm so frustrated I feel I have to make up silly words to make myself feel better)

Looks like I'll be saving up for a wedding AND a laptop!

Happy New Year!

2011 New Years Resolutions

My 2011 New Years Resolutions

1. Craft more! Sew more! Create more!

2. Be quick to evaluate and slow to anger. Nicky needs a little patience!

3. Complete at least 4 more classes at school. I'll be busy in 2012 with wedding stuff so I wanna take all the classes I can before then.

4. Work out a little and eat healthier. My goal is not to lose weight... my goal is to get in shape. Big difference. It's called a lifestyle change!

5. Actually decorate my home a little. It needs some  interior decorating TLC. (it took us 2 years to finally hang Carlos's shot glass display case)

7. Actually use or refashion the clothes I buy at my favorite $1 spot

8. Drink more water. I pretty much hate drinking liquids. Especially water but I need to stay hydrated more.

9. Learn to make my future mother-in-law's amazing chile relleno's

10. Learn to make champurado. mmm... yum!

Do you have any New Years Resolutions for 2011?
 Share them here!

Wishing you a Happy New Year!
6. Look for a wedding dress and maybe buy one!
