Pink Parlour Festival

I saw this cute pinup-like billboard driving on the freeway last night...

It was promoting the Pink Parlour Festival

I've never heard of it so I looked it up and realized its a
craft/handmade/pinup/woman show!

I'm definitely not missing this craft show!
If you're in the Southern California area I think it is a must-see event!

Wedding Wednesday: Ceremony seating

I've never seen a round ceremony seating arrangement before ever in my life until I started looking at wedding blogs and websites and magazines. I don't see them often but I think they are great and totally different! I'm thinking if I could pull it off, we're going to have a round ceremony seating arrangement.

It's a great way for guests to get a close glimpse of the happy couple.

Who likes to view a ceremony from the back of the room? Not me! I want to see the love and happiness the couple exudes on their wedding day. It's the best moment. It as afterall really all about the marriage.

There is also something about circles that intrigue me.
Everyone has their own representation of the shape but to me the circle represents Eternity.
It means never ending Love.
It represents the never ending Love the Lord has for us.

I know Marriages are usually "til death do us part" but I'd like to think that if we had the choice, we could be together for eternity. I would vow to be with that man for eternity. He is that amazing!

Got any different ceremony seating?
Send them my way!
That's it for today

Wedding Wednesday - Cake table

What is a wedding without a fabulous cake table?
Still a wedding!
Bah! I crack myself up!

Found this awesome setup on a wedding blog
(shoot! I forgot to save the source)

I adore the idea of taking a side table or patio table in turning it into a cake display

The side table setup caught my eye because its elevated but doesn't take up too much floor space
(space saving is key)

Here's a side table I fell in love with but sooo out of my price range
(Shoot! I forgot to save the source again!)
You get the picture?

A cake table wouldn't be complete without luscious cupcakes
(not going with the traditional cake but there will be a small one on top for us)
I'm requesting this design for my cupcakes... or something of the sort.

Stay tuned for the next Wedding Wednesday!

TUTORIAL: Anthro-inspired doily necklace

I found these babies on the Anthropologie website...

... and I had the perfect doily to use for this tutorial!

1 round doily
Ribbon or chain
Needle and thread
Scrap fabric for flowers
Buttons or other notions

Step 1
Grab your doily and fold it in half

Step 2
Grab some scrap fabric and cut a strip the size of your doily from end to end

Step 3
Place the strip of fabric in the middle of your folded doily
(This will allow for a better hold when sewing)

Step 4
Get your needle and thread and hand stitch a simple straight stitch from end to end
(don't tie off just yet)

Step 5
Once the straight stitch is complete, gently pull the end of the thread to create rouching.
Tie off when you get the scrunchy rouching to your liking

Step 6
Grab your ribbon or chain and glue it to the back top edge of your rouched doily

Step 7
Add some embellishment to the front of your necklace using your glue gun or fabric glue
I made two fabric flowers for this

1. A shimmery gold flower using this old top
You can refer to this tutorial
(I tried sporting it but it didn't work so I threw it in the will-use-for-fabric pile)

2. A flat fabric rosette made out of the scrap fabric I used for the rouching
You can refer to this tutorial or this tutorial

Step 8
Wear it proud!
This aint your grandma's doily anymore!
