Giraffe print + Shabby Apple = In Love!

Giraffe print + Shabby Apple = In Love!

I was browsing Shabby Apple for potential Bridesmaid options and came across this amazing little number!

I just had to share!

I sent an email to my bridal party asking them to humor me and just wear this to the wedding.

I was so touched because they all said "anything you want". I've never felt so spoiled! Although Carlos tells me "anything for my baby" all the time. Gosh I love him. I literally just got butterflies in my stomache thinking about him! I can't wait to call him my hubby! (14 months is too long but just the right amount of time to pull off what we want)

It matches my (modified) wedding colors but doesn't really go with the theme. (No, we're not having a jungle wedding) Not that I have anything against jungle themed weddings. The wedding we're planning is just going in a completely different direction than Jungle!

Dress My Soul (3) WORK-in' it!

I'm Work-in it in my work clothes!

Skirt - Thrifted
Sweater - Thrifted
Shoes - Ross
Cami - Ross
Necklace - Forever 21

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
My wardrobe consists of mostly work clothes
I shop for work clothes more than I do weekend clothes
This makes me sad...
but I am at work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, 160 hours or more a month...
so it makes sense!

You're going to see a lot of professional looking attire in the Dress My Soul Series
Although I did feature a pretty groovy night-out ensemble recently!

However, I try and mix it up at work regardless

My parents say I've always been pretty eclectic with my outfits.

I WISH I had pictures but visualize these examples...

I'm probably 5 or 6 and we're already late for school.
I run down the stairs with un-brushed hair, shorts, shirt, shoes and
bright red chunky socks!

I must have looked pretty raunchy because my Dad yelled at me to
"go take those ugly socks off"

I lived in these floral MC Hammer pants

I was devastated when I got a hole in them
My mom tried to sew them but they were NEVER the same again

I also had these silky smooth floral shorts that I was obsessed with
(they were probably pajamas!)
For some reason they made me feel fancy

My cousin and his girlfriend, who owned a limo, were living with us at the time.
His girlfriend took us to school in the limo and I knew I had to wear my BEST outfit
Naturally I picked out my silky smooth floral shorts!

(I think) I walked out of the limo and
strutted those shorts like it was my first time wearing them!
You get the point!
What kind of monstrosities do you remember sporting as a kid?

It's Summa! + Toe Tutorial!

Summa is here!
(Think Real Housewives of NJ)
"Summa" baby!
Summa Summa Summa Time... time to sit back and unwind

I had a pretty darn great weekend!

In this order

I learned how to do my own DIY Glittery toe nails from my good friend Tori Junkin
Check 'em out (ignore my fluffy fat toes!)

Quick dry base polish
Quick dry top polish
Fine craft glitter

1 - Take the base coat and brush one toe
2 - Sprinkle some glitter before it dries
3 - Repeat on all toes and let dry
3 - Generously brush all toes with top coat and let dry

This can get messy and it's the same concept as doing it on paper except with nail polish instead of glue
If it gets too messy and you have excess glitter around the toe nails, just rinse with water

My bestie dyes my hair and we like to (she likes to) experiment with me hair
We've been trying to go bolder but everytime we try, I freak out and play it safe

This time we didn't play it safe...
and the end result is fabulous!

Check me out with my red head!

On another note I've been growing me my hair out for the Wedding
I'm happy to show that it's almost shoulder length

I visited the beach the first weekend of Summa!
Laguna was gorgeous!

We had intended to go boogie boarding but the waves were breaking pretty hard
The lifeguards definitely had their work cut out for them

I don't have photo's from the beach just yet but here's one of me riding home in my besties Jeep
sporting my red hair under me my groovy weekend hat

I hope you all enjoy your summa!
(if it is Summa where you're at)

Dress My Soul (2) Fav Fab Boots!

Hello Lovelies!!

I have missed posting so much

I am finally sticking to something and bringing you the next Dressing My Soul entry below

Dress - Forever 21
Belt - Nordstrom Brass Plum (On sale!)
Boots - Thrifted
Necklace - Forever 21

Lets talk about my boots

I have been thrifting since I was a weeee thing... and I have my Mommy to thank for that!
Shout out to my Mamasita!

My life wouldn't be the same if thrifting weren't in my life and vocabulary
My life also wouldn't be the same without these fabulous boots

Back when the leather/pleather boot trend had just started to circulate,
I snagged these babies from my usually favorite Community Thrift Store

Guess how much?

Go ahead and try...

Are you thinking about it real hard?

dooo deee dooo

okay okay I'll give

They were originally $16
The tag was a 50% off color

Yup! Only eight flippin dollars!

Yup I couldn't believe it myself when I found them... and in my exact shoe size!
Didn't even have to squeeze my semi-wide feet into them!
OH and they're real leather boots to top it off!

These boots are by far thee BEST Thrifting find I have EVER snagged.

I hope to hang on to these for as long as they will hold up
I take them to the shoe repair man every so often because I couldn't bare the thought of not having these in my closet.

So... What's your BEST/Favorite thrifting find?

As always, thanks for reading!

Dress My Soul (1)

I've been viewing many of the Fashion/Craft blogs I follow and realized that I'm missing something on my blog...

Fashion posts!

Now I will be the first to say that I'm no Kate Moss but I love my style and the simple, usually cohesive outfits I sometimes come up with.

I want my blog to eventually appeal to a variety of readers so I'm adding "Dressing My Soul" to the list (that's what I'm calling the series)

Introducing the very first Dressing My Soul installment (I like that word... hee hee)

Warning... I haven't set up H2B's tripod yet so these are some funky photo's right now!

Top - H&M ($10)
Skinny Pants - Forever 21 ($10)
Belt - BP Nordstrom ($7)
Shoes - Ross ($15)
Not very visible Necklace - Grandma Gifted ($0)

I do apologize for the low quality photo's
Bare with me... it's my first post

As always, thanks for reading!

Short Update

Busy Busy Busy Bee's!

I am a busy bee!

Sorry I haven't posted lately... life has been hectic

Busy at work... Busy with crappy news from many corners...
but I'm hanging in there... we're hanging in there

I've been frustrated that I haven't been able to tap into my crafting much

I've been inspired by all of these blogs that I'm following and I haven't found/made the time to execute anything!

It's really frustrating me!

All I want to do is set aside a weekend to just be creative... sit in my craft space, be one with the sewing machine and let the creative juices flow

Seriously though... my creative juices are filling up and they really need to be emptied!

Though, I really should be focusing on wedding DIY
(I read on a wedding forum that one bride's wedding is further away than mine and she's already started her DIY)

Yikes! I better get on it! I have the list of things that need to be done but I haven't planned out my execution for some of it.

Recent Crafts (before the dry spell)

I made the following for the Craft Peep Swap (it's not exactly peepy but I couldn't think of anything peepish I could make... the colors are bright and fun like peeps though)
I made this out of an old wooden box I used to keep trinkets in (that I no longer was using but thought it would come in handy for something like this)

I decoupaged it with this awesome looking fabric (my recipient was a graffiti fan) and personalized it with her name on it.

I hope she received it and liked it! (I haven't heard back from her)

I even added 2 cute accessories to the box

So much for a short update...

Thanks for reading!
