Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween beautiful people

I hope you have a creepy-scary-goolish-fun time and be safe!

This year my Halloween costume was completely make-shift and last minute. I had intentions of making something else but sadly, it didn't work out. So I had to throw something together in a couple hours.

This is the easiest and coolest costume I have ever put together.

Drum roll please...

Black Swan

Unfortunately I don't have the photo's of my full costume but I will post them late

If you want this Black Swan make-up, use this video tutorial from Michelle Phan. Amazing!

Also... check out this cutie pie

This is my beautiful Niece

We all got together and made Pottery Barn inspired costumes for her and my little Sis

I will post more pictures soon

Little Facts

I like learning new and sometimes interesting things about people

Rebecca with an R is onto something

I decided I'm going to try to participate in Little Facts every Wednesday

See bottom for Little Facts about me

Colors: Pink and white are my favorite colors (well white is not a color but I love white) I'm very attracted to pink but I don't wear much pink clothing. I can sport white all the time. It goes with everything! Nothing better than a new crsip white t-shirt or blouse too.

Candy: I love chewey, fruity candy. Starbursts are my favorite. Anything fruity and chewey really. Not a huge chocolate fan but I like twix occassionally. Oh and lemon flavored chewey candy is my favorite. I have a thing for lemon flavored candy.

Marshmallows: I have this obsession with microwaving marshmallows. Carlos loaths my obsession. It really bugs him for some reason. Trust me people it's amazing! The marshmallows basically carmalize and makes for an exceptionally yummy messy treat. It's a little out there but I love it!

Join Rebecca with an R for Little Facts every Wednesday

Covered Canvas *Tutorial*

Remember this post about the pretty picture?

I promised a tutorial so here it is

Old (or new) Canvas
Pretty fabric of choice
Staple Gun
Foam batting
(I used an old Ironing board cover)
Glue gun (if needed)

This was a painting I did when Carlos and I moved into our first place.
I needed some art so a friend helped me create it and taught me how to use acrylic paint.
It's not really my style anymore so I've been saving it for a project.

Step 1

Cut your foam batting to fold slightly over the canvas

Step 2

Place batting on top of canvas and flip over.
fold edge of batting over back of canvas and staple around.
Be sure to staple it tightly over the canvas.

Step 3

I was limited on the amount of batting I had.
Some of the pieces did not fold over all the way AND I had to cut my batting in half.

Glue Gun!

I glued the two pieces together and glued any parts that didn't make it under the staple gun

Step 4
Staple Pretty Fabric

Lay your pretty fabric face-down
Place covered canvas face-down on top of it, fold over, and staple the edges as you did the batting

Step 5

Customize your covered canvas by pinning pictures, jewelry or notes.
I placed a textured frame over it and pinned the Sister picture to the canvas

The good thing about this is when you get tired of your fabric you can replace it with new fabric.

Canvases are so great to have around for projects like this.

I also like to find them when they are on sale and keep them on-hand for decoupage birthday presents.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Hobby Lobby - Coming to a City near ME

Many of my blog friends rave about the amazing Hobby Lobby

Out here we have Michael's Crafts and Joanne's
which I LOVE (especially when I have Michael's coupons)

... but I always crave variety and options

So when I see all my blog pals takling about it...
I get excited but disappointed that I don't have one of those

Well say no more mon amour! (Empire Records - Major FAV)

Hobby Lobby is coming to a town near me

Rancho Cucamonga

Sure... its about 45 minutes away without traffic...
but I visit our Rancho Cucamonga location every now and then for work...
and I will definitely have to at least make the drive to see what all the commotion is about.

I don't know the exact date but you know I will find out!

Whoo hoo!

Freezer Paper Stencil Tutorial (Video)

I am taking a Power Point class this semester. One of our assignments was to create a How-to presentation on something you're good at or something you would like to teach the class how to do.

Of course my mind went directly into craft mode
I thought the easiest thing to do would be to do a tutorial on Freezer paper stenciling
It is my favorite way to stencil!

Pinned: Halloween Costume Ideas

There are so many cool ideas out there. I like to try and think outside the box but I always turn to the world wide web for new ideas. This time I turned to my new favorite website Pinterest! Here is what I pinned. You can find my pins here.

Sushi? Anyday, Anytime... when I have cash flow.
No cash flow for a while though... major wedding saving for the next 8 months! Yikes!

Boobies!!!! This is the 2nd coolest couples costume I've seen lately.
Not to mention easy and cheap to pull off (pun intended!)

Owls are in! Dontcha know?!? And this one is sooooo cute! If I didn't have other secret plans for a costume I would definitely whip up an owl costume for myself!

SupermanNicole to the rescue! What a great cheap and easy idea from Martha! You could totally make a superhero costume for your Pajamas or from that shiny pair of leggins you never wear!
(I have 2 of them... 1 gold and 1 black... saving them for something... I KNOW it!)

I'm not a big reader but this book fairy is super cute and cheap and did I mention adorable?

THEEE best costume ever right now at this very moment is below...

Yes... you see right... none other than

The hottest & smartest serial killer out there.

Get the tutorial Here at GENIABEME

Lets just say I have some ideas looming!

Hope you liked these fun creative options!
Let me know if you sport any of these this Halloween!
Sharing is caring.

Generosity exists

I came across this lovely blog My Darling Days about a month ago on a Thriftaholics Weekly Link up. She had thrifted some super awesome stuff and linked it up in this post . One of the thrifted items was a cool frame she wanted to redo. The frame had this outdated picture in it that Katie wasn't really fond of so I asked her if I could have it because it reminds me of me and my Sisters.

Miss Katie was gracious enough to send me the print free-of-charge and didn't even charge me for shipping! I was tickled pink! This girl is amazing. Please stop by her blog and show her some love!

This is my temporary home for it. I reconstructed a canvas painting I didn't like anymore and pinned the print to it. The Frame around it is just being stored for my wedding. It will be refurbished by next year. I just needed a temporary home for that too.

Tutorial coming soon!

Wedding Wednesday: Mason Jars

I was reminded yesterday by my good friend Katie of Delightfully Decorative blog that I need to do another Wedding Wednesday post. Not in those words exactly but she mentioned that she loves to stop by the blog and see new WW posts. How horrible of me that a devoted reader and supportive friend stops by my blog to read new Wedding Wednesday posts and there is nothing new to read! I am ashamed...

I have discussed Mason Jars just a little on Wedding Wednesdays... so since Mason Jars have been on my mind I will expand on the subject.

Here is why I love Mason Jars

- They're sturdy
- They're multi-use items
- They're super cute
- They're super country

Here are just a few inspiration pictures I pinned.

I'm always on craigslist now looking for used Mason Jars and other Wedding materials (for cheap). I came across a locally posted offer for a bundle of Quart-sized Mason Jars a few weeks ago and pounced on the opportunity! It took me and the seller a couple weeks to finally get together to negotiate but we finally managed to do it. She was amazing not to mention super cool and I thank the Lord I found her! Oh and she's also part of a wedding coordinator/design duo! Oh and she also used mason jars for her recent wedding. Tubular!

If you're in the market for a wedding coordinator/design team hit them up on their blog. I may just be hitting them up for some wedding stuff too.
