Wedding Wednesday: How We Met And First Date Anniversary

I don't normally make a big deal out of "unofficial" anniversary dates... but since Carlos and I didn't become "official" for 8 months until after our first date... I always remember our first date.

Since Los and I are getting hitched this year, I thought it might be fun to reminisce a little.
Also... I was inspired by my fellow blogger's post about her and her hubby's Dating Anniversary

Carlos and I met through mutual friends. We hung out a couple times before we had any interest at each other at all.

The embarassing... but I don't really care what people think...story of how WE began.

One night we went out to a club with our mutual friends and immediately took a liking to each other. I'm not sure if it was the alcohol or the energy but we had a great attraction to each other and ended up making out in the back of a car on our way home. We exchanged phone numbers and I didn't think that he would actually call me or vise versa. But... in true "dating game" style... he called exactly 3 days later. I wasn't available when he called the first time and didn't call him back until the next day or maybe even a couple days after; But we instantly hit it off in conversation. His voice was just so pleasant and I enjoyed chatting with him! He asked me out on a real date a couple days later.

The First Date

Our first date was February 8, 2006. We went to see the movie, "The Hostel". Let me tell you... that was the wrong first date movie. I thought a scary movie would be fun so I could cuddle with him during the scary parts but... if you've seen it... it wasn't what you would expect at first. It was basically a porn in the beginning and then after an hour it turned into a horror movie. Very awkard beginnig and stayed awkward until the end.

We made up for that date on Valentine's day. He took me to a restaurant that his cousin worked at. He got the hook-ups for the night. Roses and such... he even brought me a pink rose. I ordered a burned steak because, at the time, I didn't know how to order a steak. It was quite embarassing... but he didn't care. I think he thought it was cute. He is the first and only guy to take me out for Valentine's day. Oh and we also saw a movie after. I forgot what we saw though... oops!

So that's the beginning of Nicole and Los. I'll, hopefully, post more fun stuff about him and I throughout the year.

LOL that's the worst! Going to see a movie with a guy and it's totally dirty and super uncomfortable. Glad it all worked out though ;)

And in response to your comment on my blog about the meetup - you should come to one! They can be fun :)

I personally think the most A-typical meetings turn out to be the best relationships :)
I met my man at a bar, while I was extremely drunk, in a bikini, wearing a cowboy hat.
Who knew it would actually turn in to the single best relationship I've ever been in!

Loved the story :)
